Collett Research Group

Atmospheric Chemistry / Air Quality Program
Department of Atmospheric Science
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado USA

Welcome to the home page for the research group of Jeffrey L. Collett, Jr. at Colorado State University.
Dr. Collett is a Professor and Head of CSU's Atmospheric Science Department. Our research includes studies of cloud and fog chemistry, aerosol particles and their impacts on visibility; sources, transport and deposition of reactive nitrogen; investigation of emissions from shale gas development; and development of new techniques for aerosol, cloud, and trace gas measurements, and measurement of emission rates of methane and other Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from oil and gas extraction and production activities.

Our work has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Park Service, the Joint Fire Science Program, the Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Garfield County (CO), the California Air Resources Board, the U.S. Forest Service, NASA, USDA, the Land and Water Fund of the Rockies, the Lake Michigan Air Director's Consortium, the Office of Naval Research, Shell Exploration and Production Company, Encana Oil and Gas, Inc., WPX Energy, and Bill Barrett Corp. Professor Collett's group maintains ongoing research collaborations with other scientists at CSU in the departments of Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences, and Soil and Crop Sciences. Professor Collett teaches classes in atmospheric chemistry, air quality, and air pollution measurement. Prof. Collett, Prof. Sonia Kreidenweis, Prof. Jeff Pierce, and Prof. Emily Fischer lead the CSU Atmospheric Science Department's growing Atmospheric Chemistry Program.
